Avec le dernier voyage de Cassini, un nouvel engouement est né pour les sondes lancées le siècle dernier. C'est notamment le cas pour les sondes voyager 1 et 2, lancées en aout 1977 et continuent, malgré les distances, à alimenter les scientifiques en données affirmant ou invalidant bons nombres de théories spatiales. Leurs instruments vont être petit à petit désactivés car elles s'éloignent toujours plus de leur principal système d'alimentation: le soleil avec une distance de plus de 20 049 600 000 km!
